Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has invited Rafael Benitez to remain coach of the Serie A side.

Benitez's contract is up in June, and the former Liverpool and Chelsea manager has been linked with a return to the Premier League.

But De Laurentiis has revealed he has urged the Spaniard to stay put in Napoli, with the club having reached the Europa League semi-final under Benitez.

De Laurentiis said: "I told him, 'You can stay one more year or five more years, if you're able to convince your family.'"

After a difficult start to the season, Napoli have advanced to the Europa League last four, and surged to fourth in Serie A, two points from the Champions League places.

There have been reports in Italy that Sampdoria coach Sinisa Mihajlovic will replace Benitez if the 55-year-old leaves.
