West Brom manager Tony Pulis has hailed Crystal Palace fans ahead of his return to face his former club at Selhurst Park on Saturday.

Pulis took over at Palace in November 2013 with the club in the bottom three and lifted them to a respectable 11th in the table, an achievement that earned him the Barclays Manager of the Year award.

The former Stoke boss replaced Alan Irvine as head coach of West Brom in January, just five months after leaving Palace, and has happy memories of the fans during his time in south London.

Pulis said: "I had a wonderful time there it was great and I really enjoyed it, it was a wonderful football club.

"The players were absolutely fantastic and all the supporters were wonderful.

"Stoke will always sit with me as the main thing and the main job, but as a short-term job that I found myself in at Palace I don't think I well ever better it.

"I sat in the stand and watched them at Hull and they had four points from 11 games and I knew it was going to be a massive, massive task.

"Great credit goes to not just the players but the support - the supporters were and remain that way - absolutely fantastic."
