Tottenham striker Harry Kane has admitted his confidence is at an all-time high after crowning his England call up with a hat-trick to become the Premier League’s top goalscorer.
Kane was called up to the senior England squad for the first time this week and then smashed in three goals in a dramatic 4-3 win over Leicester, surpassing Chelsea’s Diego Costa to 19 league goals.
The 21-year-old now has 29 goals in all competitions – one away from becoming the first Spurs player to score 30 goals in a season since Jurgen Klinsmann in 1994-95.
And Kane told Sky Sports: “I’m loving every minute, going out there and playing with my mates, scoring goals. That’s when you’re confident and that’s how I feel.
“It’s all come thick and fast but I’ve prepared myself to be ready and I’m taking the opportunity and want to keep it going.
“I’m delighted to get my first Premier League hat-trick and hopefully the goals and the wins will keep coming. We have a great squad and want to get far up the table
“And I can’t wait to play for England. It’s been a dream to be called up and I want to go and play. There’s great competition for places but hopefully I can do my best and see what happens.”
Leicester gave Spurs a tough time at White Hart Lane and were firmly in the game at 2-2 until Kane scored his third from the spot and then Jeff Schlupp scored an own goal.
“It was tougher than expected. Credit to Leicester; they stuck in there and made it difficult but we showed great character at 2-2 to get the third and fourth. We are really happy.
“We all know the Manchester United defeat was a poor game, there was no hiding from that, but it’s about how you react and we proved we’ve got a great bunch of lads and come back with a great win.”
