Hearts midfielder Sam Nicholson required stitches after being caught in the face by a nasty challenge from Livingston captain Jason Talbot on Saturday.

A picture then emerged on Twitter of Nicholson’s face after the match, showing several cuts and around his face and above his right eye.

Hearts won the Scottish Championship clash 3-2, moving them 19 points clear of Rangers at the top of the table.

Hearts manager Robbie Neilson said after the game: “Sam’s going to be alright, but it wasn’t the best tackle from the boy.

“That’s what sometimes happens when teams are desperate to beat you – they can cross the line. I’ve let the referee know my views on it.”
