New Everton signing Aaron Lennon is ready to "make an impact" in the Merseyside derby this weekend, according to manager Roberto Martinez.
Lennon arrived on loan from Tottenham for the rest of the season on transfer deadline day and Martinez says the 27-year-old winger will be part of Saturday's match-day squad.
That is despite him having not played a first-team game for Spurs since December 11 and the fact he looked less than ecstatic in the photographs taken of him by his new club.
Lennon himself later laughed it off via his Twitter account with the message: “Even though I may not look it in the pics I’m buzzing to be here, enjoyed my first day at training and everyone made me feel really welcome”.
And Martinez said: "He is very happy. I would blame the photographer because it is their job to make him produce a nice smile.
"But I saw a different face - a focused face, of someone who is ready to train and to perform.
"It has been great to see the way Aaron has adjusted, because when you sign a player in January, it is very difficult to find someone who is up to speed with the league and their match fitness.
"He is fully fit and ready to make an impact as part of the squad for the weekend.”
