Nottingham Forest winger Djamel Abdoun has joined Belgian club Sporting Lokeren on loan for the remainder of the season.

Abdoun, who arrived at the City Ground in the summer of 2013 when Billy Davies was in charge, had been told by former manager Stuart Pearce that he was free to find another club as Forest attempted to come to a settlement on the remaining 18 months of his contract.

The 28-year-old Algerian has undoubted talent but it is thought his presence in the squad was detrimental to team unity and he has not featured for the Reds' first-team this season.
