Charlie Telfer believes he could end his first season at Dundee United with at least one cup winner's medal.

And the 19-year-old midfielder is convinced he made the right decision when quitting Rangers for Tannadice last summer.

Telfer, who has been capped at U17 and U19 level by Scotland, joined Jackie McNamara's side last June after 11 years in the youth ranks at the Championship side.

And Telfer is convinced last year's Scottish Cup final defeat by St Johnstone at Celtic Park will prove a huge motivation for his team-mates to go one better this term, starting with Saturday's Scottish League Cup semi-final against Aberdeen at Hampden Park.

Speaking to Sky Sports News HQ, Telfer, who cost United £250,000 after a tribunal set his fee, said: "It was a hard one for the boys last season losing in the final after doing so well to get there. But that will drive them on to do better this year."

Asked if a cup double was on the cards, Telfer said: "Definitely, why not? We are just taking every game as they come and there is no reason why not.

"I have no regrets about coming to Dundee United, none at all. There has been no pressure on me and I'm just trying to focus on proving myself in training and any chances I get in the games."
