Fiorentina defender Stefan Savic has signed a three-year extension to his contract with the Serie A club.

The Montenegro international will remain in Florence until the summer of 2019 if he sees out his new deal.

A statement from Fiorentina read: "Fiorentina announces it has reached an agreement with Stefan Savic to renew his contract.

"Savic has signed a contract that will keep him tied to the club until June 30, 2019."

The 24-year-old centre-back joined Fiorentina from Manchester City in 2012 and has made 86 appearances for the Viola.

The Italian club were eager to extend Savic's stay in Florence with the player a reported target of Juventus.

Savic, who was also linked with a return to the Premier League last summer, has started 17 league games this season, scoring two goals and setting up another.

Fiorentina lie sixth in Italy's top flight, three points adrift of third-place Napoli, who hold the last Champions League qualifying spot.
