Manchester City centre-back Matija Nastasic is looking to leave the City of Manchester Stadium, with Bundesliga side Schalke strongly linked with the player, according to Sky sources.

Nastasic's move could be either be on loan or a permanent transfer, with the deal likely to take place in this month’s transfer window.

The Serbia international, who joined City from Fiorentina for £16m in 2012, has fallen out of favour with boss Manuel Pellegrini and has been told he can leave the club.

Schalke coach Roberto di Matteo has claimed the German club are close to signing Nastasic, but AC Milan are also reported to be interested in bringing the 21-year-old back to Italy.
