A 49-year-old man who was arrested for allegedly throwing a drink over the Manchester United bench during their 2-1 win over Arsenal has been bailed until December, Sky Sports News HQ can confirm.

The incident happened during the celebrations of United's first goal after Kieran Gibbs’ outstretched leg put the visitors ahead in the 56th minute at the Emirates.

It was first suggested that wine had been thrown but it is now believed to have been coffee.

Arsenal have previously faced criticism from former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferugson, who claimed the visitors bench is placed too near supporters.

The club, who say their layout is similar to other grounds, have promised to ban anyone who is found guilty following an investigation by the Metropolitan Police.

United have confirmed they will not be making a complaint about the incident.

A spokesman said: "There was an incident after the first goal but Arsenal's staff and stewards acted quickly and professionally to it. Contrary to reports in today's media, we will not be making a complaint to the FA."
