The FA has announced it will take no action against Marouane Fellaini after he was alleged to have spat at Sergio Aguero during Sunday's Manchester derby.

Manchester United midfielder Fellaini and City striker Aguero clashed in the opening period of the home side’s 1-0 win at the Etihad Stadium.

Aguero fell to the floor following a clash with Fellaini leading to a penalty appeal from City, although no spot-kick was given.

Fellaini was clearly angered by Aguero’s reaction and bent over him as he lay face down on the pitch, with TV replays showing some spit left his mouth.

But the FA has decided not to take any action against Fellaini, who took to Twitter earlier on Monday to insist he had done nothing wrong.

"The press loves to invent the stories when there aren't any," he tweeted.

"Thanks the journalist. #ferity #tospit."
