Scotland manager Gordon Strachan insists their victory over Poland in March will have little standing when the two sides meet on Tuesday night.

Strachan’s side are in Warsaw for their next European Qualifier in Group D, having beaten Georgia, but Poland are fresh from an historic win over world champions Germany.

Skipper Scott Brown scored as Scotland beat Poland 1-0 in a friendly early this year but Strachan believes both sides have improved since.

"I’ve forgot all about that game to be honest – I couldn't tell you how it went. We have all moved on and played games since March,” he said.

"I don't think the fact we won will make any difference. The game is all about what happens with the players tomorrow.  The game is determined by them, by good players and good goals, and sometimes by mistakes.

"I saw an improvement in Poland when they beat Germany – I think we all did. Whether that's because of new players, or a new attitude, we all saw it.

“But we believe we have improved as well. As a manager I'm delighted with how my team is playing and I'm sure their manager is delighted with them.”

Poland v Scotland is live on Sky Sports 5HD from 7pm on Tuesday October 14.
