Harry Redknapp says he does not want a new contract and will quit next summer if QPR are relegated.

The QPR manager was widely expected to commit his future to the club beyond next summer, when his current deal expires.

But Rangers go into the international break bottom of the table, and some reports on Tuesday claimed the offer of an extension had been withdrawn.

Redknapp, for his part, claims he is not interested in a new deal while the club's Premier League status is in jeopardy.

Quoted in The Sun newspaper on Tuesday he said: "The truth is I told (owner) Tony Fernandes three or four weeks ago that I do not want a contract.

"We'll see where QPR finish the season and take it from there. If we get relegated I wouldn't expect to stay and I wouldn't want to.

"I told Tony that I get on so well with him and know him so well I don't want a contract. I don't need one. If I'd wanted to sign the contract I could've done a long time ago.

"So we'll see where we are come May, won't we? I may have had enough by then and so might the people that run the club."

QPR have won just once in the league this season and were knocked out of the Capital One Cup by League Two Burton.
