Coventry's future at the Ricoh Arena is uncertain once again just weeks after the Sky Bet League 1 club returned to the ground.

The city council, who jointly owns the stadium with the charity the Alan Higgs Trust, will meet on Tuesday to discuss selling 90 per cent of the venue to Wasps rugby club.

However, Sky Blues manager Steven Pressley believes there's still a long way to go on this story.

“On this subject there are a number of things to consider for everybody,” Pressley told Sky Sports News HQ.

“There is obviously already a rugby club within the city and obviously a football club within the city.

“And a decision will have to be made what is best for Coventry as a city moving forward and only the council and the people involved can make that decision.”

Coventry's existing rugby club plays in the third tier of the national game - and their former player and current chairman Peter Rossborogh believes they could find a way to co-exist with Wasps in the same city.

“It’s not unusual for rugby clubs to move, Wasps have done it, Saracens have done it, London Irish have done it, London Welsh have done it.

“Wasps have seen us twice and have been very agreeable towards us, very honest and open as they could be within the limits of their disclosure agreement. We got on very well with their chairman Derek Richardson.

"I’m not blaming the Wasps at all for this; they have been very good to us, very decent to us. I understand their problems as well.

“We could work together with them I’m sure if they end up coming here. We will just have to wait and see.

“There would be benefits for us and there would also be disadvantages. I certainly expect the younger elements of our crowd might be more tempted towards the glamour of the Rioch Arena rather than the Butts Park Arena.

“I think our older fans would stay with us. There is always the danger we may lose sponsors or whatever, so it’s a very difficult situation.”
