Sky Sports will show 16 live Barclays Premier League fixtures between December and the New Year as it brings viewers more of the games that matter during the festive period.

The schedule announced on Monday offers at least three live fixtures a week and coverage of 16 different teams including champions Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.

As the season approaches the halfway point, Sky Sports viewers will be able to enjoy even more mouth-watering clashes including Manchester United v Liverpool, Newcastle United v Sunderland in the Tyne Wear derby, Chelsea v West Ham on Boxing Day and Liverpool v Arsenal.

Sky Sports managing director Barney Francis said: "We offer our viewers more of the games that matter from the Barclays Premier League and that continues with a fantastic line up of fixtures for December and the New Year.  Viewers can enjoy all the stories from both ends of the table, huge fixtures – including Manchester United against Liverpool – plus at least three matches a week. We can’t wait.”

By the end of the year, Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal will each have been shown live by Sky Sports this season at least eight times.

In 2015 viewers can look forward to 57 more live matches between January and May, making Sky Sports the home to more than three quarters of all live televised fixtures over the remainder of the season.

The new fixtures build on the start to the season that has seen every Barclays Premier League club live at least three times, with Sky Sports broadcasting matches from all 20 stadiums before the end of November.

December will see four Monday Night Football shows with Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher and Ed Chamberlin, while Saturday Night Football with Dave Jones and Jamie Redknapp kicks off the month with Manchester City taking on Everton from 5.30pm on Saturday 6 December.

Selected fixtures

  • Dec 14: Man Utd v Liverpool
  • Dec 21: Newcastle v Sunderland
