Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy is thought to have been watched by England following his fine form in recent weeks.
It is understood England assistant manager Ray Lewington was in attendance at Selhurst Park to watch Vardy in Leicester’s 2-0 defeat to Crystal Palace.
The 27-year-old, who joined from Fleetwood Town in 2012, particularly caught the eye in Leicester’s astonishing 5-3 comeback win over Manchester United as he claimed the Man of the Match award.
Vardy netted his first Premier League goal to make it 4-3 to Nigel Pearson’s side, as well as setting up Leonardo Ulloa’s opener and winning two penalties at the King Power Stadium.
His rewards could now come in England’s forthcoming European qualifiers San Marino and Estonia, with usual striker Daniel Sturridge still recovering from injury and Rickie Lambert struggling for game time at Liverpool.
Vardy has enjoyed a meteoric rise through the divisions after being released by Sheffield Wednesday as a youngster.
The striker began his career at current eighth-tier side Stocksbridge Park Steels before moving to the Northern Premier League with Halifax FC and then Fleetwood Town in the Conference National.
