Transfer news: Monaco don't want to sell James Rodriguez or Radamel Falcao

Monaco vice president Vadim Vasilyev insists they will not sell Colombia pair James Rodriguez and Radamel Falcao - and also confirmed they will not sign former Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes.

Rodriguez has been one of the stars of the World Cup and his displays have led to speculation that Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona were lining up bids.

But Vasilyev insists that the Principality outfit will not be selling Rodriguez, who they signed from Porto last summer for £40million.

And he insists that Falcao, who is returning to full fitness following his knee ligament injury which ruled him out of Brazil 2014, is not about to sign for Real Madrid.

"There are no negotiations with any club for Falcao," said Vasilyev.

Asked if Falcao had asked to leave, he replied: "We have not talked about that. We count on him and believe he will have a great season in 2014-2015.

"Nobody is not transferable, I don't know of any examples in football - yet there is no discussion, we rely on him."

On Rodriguez, Vasilyev feels his displays in Brazil have shown that Monaco were right to pay what they did for him last summer.

"Everyone was surprised at the large sum we spent last year and now everyone is talking about him. That means that we were right," he added.

"We strongly believe in this player, it is very important to us, he still has four years on his contract and we will do many great things together "

He confirmed, though, that Valdes will not be joining Monaco due to the knee injury he sustained last season.

"Victor Valdes is injured and will not be coming," he said.

"I confirm that we have had contact with Valdes and his entourage, but because of his injury he will not join us."
