Inter Milan president Erick Thohir has made it clear that the club’s talented young players will not be sold this summer.
Argentine forward Mauro Icardi, 21, and 20-year-old Croatian midfielder Mateo Kovacic have been the subject of transfer speculation during the early part of the summer.
Manchester City and Monaco are among the clubs to have been linked with Icardi, while Real Madrid have been credited with an interest in Kovacic.
However, Thohir has dismissed the rumours and insisted that Inter plan to build their squad around such players for the years to come.
“Frequently in the past Inter allowed their young talents to get away,” Thohir told TV One.
“It is something we must limit.
“We must protect our talent who can potentially become big players.”
