Portugal boss Paulo Bento has not ruled out the possibility of calling up Brazil-born Porto midfielder Fernando in the future.
The 26-year-old has previously represented Brazil at under-20s level, but he became a Portuguese citizen in December after playing there since 2007.
Fernando has not made the latest Portugal squad for the forthcoming friendly against Cameron, but Bento says that is because of non-footballing reasons and that he could be involved at the World Cup this summer.
"Fernando hasn't been and could not have been called up for reasons not related to sport," he said.
"The same that happens with Fernando happens with any other players.
"The fact he isn't here right now doesn't mean he can't be when the squad is called up for the World Cup."
