Shrewsbury have agreed a deal with Barnsley which will see Lee Collins remain with the club for another month.
The centre-half first linked up with the Shrews on a short-term agreement in September.
He has been an important figure for the League One outfit over recent weeks, playing every minute of the eight matches he has appeared in so far.
Shrewsbury are eager to retain his services as they attempt to pull clear of trouble towards the foot of the third tier table.
Collins joined Barnsley on a permanent deal over the summer, having impressed during a loan from Port Vale, but has been allowed to move on after struggling to hold down a regular role at Oakwell.
"Reds defender Lee Collins has extended his loan stay with Shrewsbury Town by a further month," read a statement on the Tykes' official website.
