Mario Balotelli will miss Italy's World Cup qualifier with Armenia on Friday night after failing to recover from flu, the FIGC announced on their official website.
Balotelli missed his side's opening two Group B encounters due to his decision to undergo laser eye surgery in the last international break.
He was set to lead the line at the Hrazdan Stadium alongside Pablo Osvaldo after head coach Cesare Prandelli announced his starting line-up on Thursday.
Juventus forward Sebastian Giovinco is expected to replace Balotelli in Prandelli's starting line-up.
Prandelli is hopeful Balotelli will shake off the illness to be fit for next week's clash with Denmark.
