Arsenal striker reveals that nerves have affected him in front of goal

Olivier Giroud has admitted he has been 'freezing up' in front of goal for Arsenal but is confident the goals will come soon. The France striker joined the Gunners in a big-money move from Montpellier in the summer but has struggled to fire in their early games, missing several presentable opportunities. But the 25-year-old is optimistic things will fall into place soon, while confessing he has been affected by nerves. "I've been freezing up a little bit just when I've been about to pull trigger and that's exactly what happened in my first few matches for France," Giroud told FIFA's official website. "I'm not too worried about it, because I've been scoring in training and I feel pretty comfortable being a part of this team.

Relaxed

"I just need to not think about things too much, so that I feel as relaxed as possible when the time comes to stick the ball in the net." Off the field Giroud is settling in well at Emirates Stadium under Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger but is hoping to improve his language skills before too long. "I really want to improve my English and speak fluently, without having to think about what I'm about to say," added Giroud. "Being at Arsenal will help me with my development, and with a manager like Arsene Wenger in charge, I'm definitely in good hands."
