Scotland boss expecting 'tough match' against Macedonia

Craig Levein is not panicking about the fact Scotland are already playing catch up in World Cup qualifying and is confident his side can improve. A disappointing 0-0 draw with Serbia at Hampden Park on Saturday afternoon means Group A frontrunners Belgium and Croatia are already two points clear at the summit. But Levein was pleased with the effort of his players against Serbia and knows they just need a bit more quality in front of goal ahead of Tuesday's now vital home game with Macedonia. "We were hoping to win the match but these things happen and overall we played very well," the Scotland boss told Sky Sports. "There has been a definite progression. "I would have loved to have won the match but the lads did everything I asked of them. We can play better and that is encouraging." Levein is not under any doubt about the need for three points against Macedonia but he is also expecting a tough game versus a side who made Croatia work hard for a 1-0 victory. He said: "We need to try and win. It will be a tough match."
