West Brom boss keen to have defender beyond next summer

West Bromwich Albion manager Steve Clarke is hopeful that he can persuade defender Jonas Olsson to sign a new contract. The 29-year-old's current deal with the Baggies runs out at the end of this season but talks over an extension have yet to take place. Clarke, though, refuses to give up on retaining Olsson's services beyond next summer. "He can choose to sign a new one, which we will offer him," he said in The Daily Mirror. "Or he can run his contract down, that's his entitlement. He's a top professional. "I've got absolutely no worries about Jonas if he chooses to run his contract down, I've no worries about him performing for West Brom week in, week out - absolutely none." Olsson joined West Brom from NEC Nijmegen in 2008.
