American midfielder looking forward to Premier League adventure

Maurice Edu claims to be 'excited' by the Premier League opportunity offered him at Stoke, with a work permit finally secured for the American midfielder. The Potters revealed last Saturday that they had agreed personal terms with Edu and were looking to bring him into the Britannia Stadium. Tony Pulis made his move for the 26-year-old after seeing him become embroiled in the financial troubles at Rangers. The Old Firm outfit have been forced to part with a number of senior stars after they rejected the chance to transfer their contracts to the newco at Ibrox. It has taken longer than anticipated for an agreement for Edu to be completed, but he was at Stoke's training ground on Friday to put the finishing touches to a switch. Edu told Sky Sports News: "I'm very excited. I've always been a fan of the Premier League and now I have that opportunity, so I'm just looking forward to it." With regard to the lengthy work permit procedure, he added: "That is how it goes sometimes - sometimes things take a little longer, but it's all done now."
