Marseille midfielder Stephane Mbia is currently undergoing a medical at Queens Park Rangers.
The Cameroon international announced earlier this week that he had opted to make a move to Loftus Road despite receiving a late bid from Fenerbahce.
He is now all set to become the latest addition to Mark Hughes' ranks in what has been a busy summer of transfer activity at QPR.
Mbia is an experienced European performer who has figured prominently on Premier League radars for some time.
Marseille have been able to fend off advances in the past, but the 26-year-old believes the time is right to take on a new challenge in England.
Should he pass a medical, the formalities of an agreement with QPR will be processed prior to Friday's deadline.
Mbia will then be free to trade places with Joey Barton, with the one-cap England international currently training with Marseille after being frozen out at Loftus Road.
