Striker yet to reach an agreement regarding contract extension

The agent of Manchester City striker John Guidetti claims talks regarding a possible contract extension for his client are ongoing. Sky Sports revealed last week that the promising frontman was to be offered a new long-term deal at the Etihad Stadium. City are keen to tie the talented 20-year-old down on fresh terms in an effort to fend off mounting interest in his services. Guidetti is not a first-team regular at present, but he is held in high regard by the reigning Premier League champions. They consider him to be one for the future and are prepared to send him out on loan in order to get the game time he requires and craves.

There is no shortage of clubs willing to bring him on board this summer, but Guidetti must resolve his future at City and shake off the effects of a serious virus before any deal is done. "We are negotiating about his future," Guidetti's representative Per Jonsson told Expressen. "It's obvious that many clubs would have wanted to buy him if he didn't have the injury. "He will be fit soon."
