The full extent of the knee injury suffered by Mark Ridgers on Scotland U21 duty has been revealed, with the Hearts keeper set for three months out.

The promising shot-stopper was forced off during a meeting with Belgium on Tuesday.

Scans have shown a tear in his posterior cruciate ligament, meaning a man set to start the season as second choice at Tynecastle is facing up to a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Manager John McGlynn told Hearts News: "I am gutted for the boy. It's the start of the season, he's been doing well and now he's looking at a minimum of 12 weeks out.

"It is a blow for him and the club and we all wish him a speedy recovery.

"Hearts will give him all the help and support we can to get him back fit as quickly as possible."
