Chelsea's Juan Mata has set himself the dual target this term of playing more games and helping claim trophies.

Spain international was part of historic moment at Euro 2012

Chelsea playmaker Juan Mata has set himself the dual target this season of playing more games and claiming further silverware. The skilful midfielder enjoyed a dream debut term in West London which culminated in him winning the UEFA Champions League having also lifted the FA Cup. However, the Spain international, who also won Euro 2012, is targeting further success in the season ahead.

Competitions

"I think it will be a good season for us," he told Chelsea TV. "Personally, I will try to play more games than last season. For sure, our desire is to win another trophy, either the Premier League or Champions League. "These competitions are very important for us and we will try to do our best." The Champions League triumph was the prelude to more success later in the summer.
Amazing
Mata was part of the Spain squad that claimed its third consecutive international trophy. His defining moment came in the final as he scored Spain's fourth in their 4-0 destruction of Italy, before jetting off to the Olympics where his country went out at the group stage. He added: "The Euros were the best moment of the summer for me. Another European Championship for Spain, I had the opportunity to play in the final, I scored the last goal and it was amazing. "The Olympics was a good experience as a sportsman, but we were so unlucky. We deserved more but we didn't score so it was impossible to go through."
