Sky Sports understands West Ham are hoping to beat Blackburn to the signing of Sporting Lisbon midfielder Adrien Silva.
Blackburn have been leading the chase for Silva as they look to add to their Portuguese contingent at Ewood Park.
However, West Ham have now entered the chase for the 23-year-old with Sam Allardyce hoping to beat his old club to Silva's signature.
Silva spent last season on loan at Academica and impressed during his time at the club.
Sporting are thought to be open to offers for Silva and West Ham are ready to offer the midfielder a move to England.
West Ham officials are thought to have travelled to Portugal to try and thrash out a deal to bring Silva to Upton Park.
