Appleton keen to land Andersen on loan

Sky Sports understands Portsmouth are lining up a loan move for Reading goalkeeper Mikkel Andersen. Pompey boss Michael Appleton is in the market for goalkeeping reinforcements as he is currently without a keeper at Fratton Park. Appleton is now hoping to raid the Royals for Andersen by taking the Danish shot-stopper on loan. Andersen has found himself behind Adam Federici and Alex McCarthy in the first-team frame, and with Stuart Taylor in line for a deal at the Madejski he could find himself further down the pecking order next season. The 23-year-old is highly rated at Reading and the club are thought to be happy to loan him out again so that he can get valuable first-team action under his belt.

Andersen's agent, Simon Miotto, has confirmed that Andersen could soon be on his way to Fratton Park. "Their manager Michael Appleton is a good friend and he is determined to create a winning team and secure promotion to the Championship quickly, and Appleton wants Mikkel to play for his team," Miotto told bold.dk. "There are still some issues to sort out at Portsmouth before Appleton can put his team together, but that will hopefully be in order within a couple of days. "Reading have been very, very good with Mikkel and he is enjoying himself there, but they also acknowledge that he has been very loyal and that it is time for him to play in order to develop as a player."
