Scottish starlet happy with Wigan move

New Wigan signing Fraser Fyvie is determined to prove he can be a success in the Premier League. Highly-rated midfielder Fyvie has joined the Latics on a three-year deal after leaving Aberdeen. The 19-year-old is relishing the chance of pitting his wits against some of the best players in the world in the Premier League. "This is a new chapter for me and a great opportunity, I'm desperate to get started and hopefully prove to people I'm good enough for the Premier League," Fyvie told the club's official website.

Scottish influence

Fyvie admits the fact a number of other Scottish players made the same switch from the SPL to the DW Stadium played a big part in his decision to move to Wigan. "I followed the team towards the end of last season keeping an eye on the Scottish lads here and watching them do so well in keeping the club in the Premier League," he said. "Knowing there were players here from Scotland obviously played a big part in making the decision to join, I think there's five of us at the club now, and hopefully I can follow in their footsteps, become an important member of the team and continue improving as a player. "It's not just the Scottish lads though who have made me feel welcome, the whole squad have helped me settle in and my first training session with the group went really well."
