Striker expects response from Robins

Cheltenham striker Darryl Duffy is keen to avoid any hangover from last month's League Two play-off disappointment when the new campaign gets underway. The Robins were condemned to another year in the Football League's basement division following Crewe's 2-0 win at Wembley. The Cotswolds-based outfit are keen to replicate last season's success and Scotsman Duffy says everyone at the club is focused on building on last term rather than allowing the momentum to subside. He told Sky Sports: "As long as we can keep the squad that we had last season and then build on it then I don't see why we can't replicate our success. "If we start to lose a lot of key players then it might be a different story, but hopefully that won't be the case and we will be able to build on it next season rather than take a step back. "Obviously, we don't want to have a hangover from the play-off final loss next season and we'll be looking to make a positive start instead. "If we are lucky enough to get promoted next season, whether it be automatically or at Wembley via the play-offs then it will be that much sweeter because of the disappointment this time round."

Impression

The 28-year-old striker made an impression when taking to the Wembley pitch as a second-half substitute after bleaching his hair for the occasion, but he insists that he will be back in black for the new season. "No, it is definitely going to be gone by the start of next season," he added. "It was one of those things where I'd said that if we get to Wembley I'll turn it blonde and I'm a man that sticks to his word, but it won't be the same colour for the new season. "I might do it again if we get to Wembley again this year, but then I might not because we ended up losing, so we'll have to see if and when the time comes round."
