Former Spain star says he 'can't imagine a better place to be'

Former Spanish international Paco Jemez has admitted he is excited at the prospect of leading Rayo Vallecano in the Primera Liga next season. The former defender replaces Jose Sandoval, who left after an up-and-down season that ended with the club only avoiding relegation on the last day of the season thanks to a 90th minute winner. The 42-year-old has previously coached at Cordoba and Las Palmas in Spain's lower divisions and has never coached in Spain's first division before. Jemez admitted he was excited at the challenge which lies ahead, saying: "I know this house and I can't imagine a better place to be. I am very excited to be in the top flight." Rayo, one of four Spanish clubs from the capital, is also one of several clubs under bankruptcy protection, which led to conflicts between Sandoval and the administrators last year.
