Defender looks poised to leave Tranmere for Deepdale

Sky Sports understands Preston North End are set to sign defender David Buchanan from League One rivals Tranmere Rovers. Buchanan joined Tranmere last summer from Hamilton and enjoyed an impressive debut season at Prenton Park in making 44 appearances. He was thought to be ready to agree a new two-year deal with Rovers, but now appears poised to accept a switch to Preston. Deepdale boss Graham Westley is planning a major overhaul of his squad during the summer and has already signed Buchanan's Tranmere team-mate John Welsh. Westley has also agreed deals for Paul Huntington, Shane Cansdell-Sherriff and Nicky Wroe, and is now hoping to make Buchanan his next signing.
