Westley closes on deal for former defender
Sky Sports understands Preston are lining up a move for Stevenage defender Scott Laird.
Laird is out of contract this summer at Broadhall Way and as yet no new deal has been agreed with Stevenage.
The news has alerted Preston who are keen to bring the full-back to Deepdale after Stevenage saw their promotion dreams ended by Sheffield United in their play-off semi-final.
The 23-year-old has impressed for Stevenage and played a key role in their successive promotions from the Conference to League One.
Preston boss Graham Westley is a huge admirer of Laird and is keen to be reunited with the defender having worked with him during his time in charge of Stevenage.
