Striker decides against renewing contract with German club

Spanish striker Raul is on the lookout for a new club after it was revealed he will not be extending his contract with German club Schalke. The 34-year-old moved to the Bundesliga outfit in the summer of 2010 after finally ending his 16-year association with Real Madrid. The forward hit 18 goals in all competitions in his first season in Gelsenkirchen, helping the side to DFB Cup glory and reach the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League. He has already struck 18 goals this campaign to put Schalke on the brink of qualifying for next season's Champions League. However, his time with the club is set to come to an end this summer after it was revealed he does not want to renew his contract. The three-time Champions League winner will explain the reasons for his departure at a press conference later on Thursday afternoon.
