City striker may be in the squad for next Premier League game

Carlos Tevez could be in contention to make his comeback in Manchester City's next Premier League game against Chelsea, but Roberto Mancini does not expect the striker to be '100 per cent'. The Argentina international has not played for City since September following his infamous refusal to warm up during the UEFA Champions League away defeat by Bayern Munich. He spent several months back in his homeland before failing to secure a move away from the Etihad Stadium in the January transfer window. Tevez returned to training with City last month and scored for the reserves last week as he continued his push towards a first-team comeback.

Help

The 28-year-old will not be involved in Thursday's Europa League clash with Sporting Lisbon, but may be in the squad for the visit of Chelsea on Wednesday 21st March. Mancini confirmed Tevez needs to train further, but reiterated his view that the former Manchester United forward could play a role in City's Premier League title bid. "Carlos needs to train again, maybe another 10 days," said Mancini regarding a possible timescale for Tevez's return following Sunday's 1-0 defeat at Swansea City. "I don't think that Carlos can play the first game and be 100% after five months. This is impossible. "I think he could help us in the last two months."
