Viola ace confirms AC Milan's interest

Fiorentina midfielder Riccardo Montolivo has hinted that AC Milan are frontrunners to secure his signature in the summer. A number of clubs, including Juventus and Roma, are thought to be targeting the Italy international, who is out of contract with La Viola at the end of the season. Last month 27-year-old Montolivo denied Milan had tabled an offer for his services despite speculation linking him with a San Siro move. However, after Italy's defeat to the United States in Genoa on Wednesday night, the midfielder suggested the Rossoneri are leading the chase.

Possibilities

"My name has been linked to many clubs," he was quoted as saying by Calciomercato.it. "There are several possibilities between these [sides] and there is also AC Milan. But now is the time to be thinking about Fiorentina." Fiorentina currently sit 15th in the Serie A standings and Montolivo insists his sole focus is on helping the club sidestep relegation. He added: "It's a situation to which we are accustomed and we will just have to grit our teeth."
