Homegrown star Gary McSheffrey is determined to prevent Coventry City sliding into the third tier of English football for the first time in almost 50 years.
The Sky Blues remain rooted to the bottom of the Championship following Saturday's 2-0 defeat at play-off hopefuls Reading.
Andy Thorn's men have been stuck in the bottom three since late October and are now eight points adrift of safety.
Coventry have not played in the third tier since 1964 and McSheffrey, who has played over 200 games for his hometown club, has sounded a rallying call to his team-mates.
He is desperate for City's current crop to avoid an unwanted place in the Midlands club's history.

"I'm from Coventry and it wouldn't be nice to be part of the team that takes the club down to the third tier," said the 29-year-old forward.
"I was born in 1982 and when I was growing up it was unthinkable that we would go down to that level. We had always been top division.
"It does get you down but we've got a chance to turn it around against Leeds on Tuesday.
"We need to get out of this rut. We've got to take it on the chin and come out like it's our last chance in every game.
"If we lose the next one we're in a hell of a mess so we've got to dig deep."
