Long and Dorrans face race against time to face Wolves

West Brom boss Roy Hodgson is keeping his fingers crossed that Shane Long and Graham Dorrans will be fit for Sunday's crunch Black Country derby against Wolves. Republic of Ireland striker Long, who is currently struggling with a back injury, has missed the last two games due to a chest problem, but is hopeful of training with the team on Wednesday. Dorrans, meanwhile, faces a race against time to be fit for the trip to Molineux after picking up a hip injury during Saturday's 2-1 defeat by Swansea. Speaking ahead of Sunday's game, which will be televised live on Sky Sports HD1, Hodgson told the club's official website: "Shane seems to be making big strides forward.

Progress

"He feels a lot better but he's had two quite serious knockbacks so we have to unfortunately take it a little bit easier with him. "We can't throw him straight back in there because first it was the back and second it was chest pains. But he's making a lot of progress and he's a lot better than he was at the end of last week, it's just a gradual thing "We were hoping it would clear up earlier but it hasn't and we just have to take it day by day. It's too early to rule him in or out for Wolves. "He's always training but not with the team. He's hoping to train with the team today so we'll see. "The doctors will obviously remain cautious as they should because viruses that affect your chest and heart you have to be careful with." Scotland international Dorrans has started West Brom's last three Premier League fixtures but faces a race against time to face Wolves. An away victory for the Baggies would put eight points between themselves and fellow relegation-threatened Wolves. Hodgson added: "Graham Dorrans went for a scan on Monday. He's got a problem with a muscle above the hip but the doctor doesn't think it is that serious.
Very good
"He didn't train yesterday (Tuesday), I doubt if he'll be back today (Wednesday), so it will be an end-of-the-week decision with him. "Otherwise, we've got a clean bill of health at the moment, apart from the players with long-term injuries." Hodgson is also keeping his cards close to his chest as to whether he will hand debuts to January signings Keith Andrews and Liam Ridgewell against Mick McCarthy's men. "Liam has missed a lot of football," he said. "Keith looks very fit and his results are very good. "Liam looks like a player who has been out for a long time and hasn't played many games since he got back. "But both of them are training very well and both will be in contention in the coming games. I'm not concerned about their fitness."
