Real Betis have signed Brazilian defender Paulao on loan from French outfit Saint-Etienne until the end of the season.
The 29-year-old admitted he jumped at the chance to secure a move to La Liga when it presented itself.
"I am thankful for the opportunity to play in the Spanish league," he told reporters at his presentation in Seville.
Betis' sporting director, Vlada Stosic said of the South American stopper: "He is a powerful, aggressive central defender who will help at dead balls.
"He was the best option that the market offered us."
