Spanish ace sidelined with ankle injury

Manchester City are hopeful that David Silva's ankle injury is not serious and that he will be back in action for the trip to Wigan. The Spain international was ruled out of their Carling Cup semi-final first-round clash with Liverpool. Rumours have been rife that Silva could have suffered a serious injury, but City were quick to claim that the problem was not significant. Manager Roberto Mancini - who has recently lost Vincent Kompany to a four-game suspension and the Toure brothers to African Cup of Nations duty - is hopeful Silva will be back for Monday's game with Wigan. "I hope it is not serious, I hope he will be back for the next game," Mancini said.
