Heerenveen's Geert-Arend Roorda will wait a little longer to see if a club makes an offer, but has ruled out joining NEC or Utrecht.

Midfielder reluctant to join smaller club

Heerenveen midfielder Geert-Arend Roorda says he will wait a little longer to see if a club makes an offer this month, but has ruled out joining NEC Nijmegen or FC Utrecht. The midfielder is out of contract in Heerenveen at the end of the season but has not ruled out signing a new deal. The 23-year-old is reluctant to join a smaller club and rates only the Eredivisie top four - AZ, PSV, Ajax and FC Twente - as bigger than his current employers. "I'll keeping waiting, but not too long," Roorda, who has recently recovered from a broken foot, told Voetbal International. "Now I am fit I want to play. "After the top three clubs there is no bigger club than Heerenveen. "Last summer NEC Nijmegen were interested in me but that is not a serious option for me and to be quite honest neither is FC Utrecht." Roorda had been linked with a move to Belgian giants Standard Liege but the potential switch reportedly collapsed when he sustained his foot injury.
