Sky Sports understands Ipswich are eyeing up a move for Derby County midfielder Paul Green.
Green's contract at Pride Park expires in the summer and as yet no new deal has been agreed.
The news has alerted a host of clubs to Green's possible availability this month as Derby could decide to cash in on the former Doncaster man rather than risk losing him for nothing in the summer.
Ipswich boss Paul Jewell is thought to be leading the chase for Green as he is a big fan of the 28-year-old having signed him while he was in charge of Derby.
A number of Championship clubs are also thought to be monitoring Green's situation at Pride Park with the Republic of Ireland international establishing himself as one of the best midfielders in the division.
