Midfielder hails 'incredible' 2011 for Stoke

Stoke midfielder Rory Delap has revealed that he is hopeful of capping off an incredible last 12 months with victory at home to Wigan on Saturday. The Potters look certain of going into the New Year in eighth position following their Boxing Day goalless draw against Aston Villa at the Britannia Stadium. City also reached their first FA Cup final back in May, a game which they lost 1-0 to big-spending Manchester City at Wembley. But Delap wants Tony Pulis' side to stay on course for a top 10 spot in the Premier League - starting with three points against the Latics, who denied them a top-half finish on the final day of last season. He told the club's official website: "It's been a great year for us, like the gaffer has said. "It could have been an even more incredible 12 months though had we won the FA Cup and beaten Wigan on the final day of the season. "We would have finished in the top half of the table which would have been huge for us. We are not looking back at that game though. "We know we want to end the year on a high to make sure we are in prime position to break into the top ten this time around. "Wigan have had a difficult first half of the campaign, but they will be determined to end it with a victory. We won't take them for granted because they have shown in recent weeks with their results that they are picking up again."
