Villa boss refuses to reveal his wanted list

Aston Villa manager Alex McLeish is remaining tight-lipped on reports he wants to bring Steven Davis back to the club. The Northern Ireland international came through the club's academy before joining SPL giants Rangers via Fulham. The 26-year-old has been linked with a Villa Park return, although McLeish is refusing to confirm who is on his wanted list. The former Birmingham boss is against talking about other clubs' players and he is not ruling out a fresh face in the New Year.

Admiration

"I'm not at liberty to talk about other players at other teams," said McLeish. "We have a lot of players I admire in mind but it remains to be seen if we can do business. "Just as in the summer, we have to trade carefully. I'm using those words again, box clever, and I don't see us plunging into the market. "You never know. If there is anything to be done trading wise, then we have to consider things."
