Manchester United starlet Oliver Norwood has admitted he would consider a loan move to the Championship in January as he looks to continue his development.
The talented midfielder was loaned out to Scunthorpe at the start of the season as Sir Alex Ferguson looks for Norwood to gain some experience before giving him a shot at the first team.
Norwood's loan spell expires in January and a host of Championship clubs are believed to be keen on taking the Northern Ireland international on a temporary basis in the New Year.
The 20-year-old admits Ferguson wanted him to go out on loan to a Championship club in the summer, but that Alan Knill persuaded him to sanction his switch to League One Scunthorpe.
"Before I joined Scunthorpe, the gaffer pulled me and said he wanted me to go to a Championship club at that time, but Alan Knill came in and said I would play," Norwood told
skysports.com.
"He likes Alan Knill, he likes the way he plays football and I think it has done me good coming here.
"I have learnt the horrible side of the game. You have got to get your tackles in, win your headers and stop the opponent from playing and I am grateful to Alan Knill for giving me the chance to prove to people I can play at this level and play at a higher level.
"My time at Scunthorpe expires in January and I spoke to [United reserve team boss] Warren Joyce and I mentioned to him about January and he said they had not looked that far forward as yet and he just told me to keep performing and playing the way I have done and let other people worry about that.
"Hopefully a couple of Championship clubs will want to take me but it is a bit far to be looking that far ahead yet."
