Killie marksman taking painkillers to play

Kilmarnock striker Paul Heffernan has revealed he is playing for the SPL club while suffering from a groin injury. The Sheffield Wednesday man limits his training during the week before taking painkillers in order to play at weekends. The 29-year-old hopes the situation can be resolved sooner rather than later, but, for now, he will continue to soldier on. Heffernan is not thinking about a stint on the sidelines as he remains eager to turn out for Kenny Shiels' side.

"I'm having a bit of a problem with my groin and it's playing up, so I'm not doing much training through the week and trying to get through games," said Heffernan. "Hopefully it's not a major problem and it can be resolved - the sooner the better for me. "I have to take a few painkillers before the game and get on with it. I've just got to try get through the games to help the team. "I'm hoping the problem will be resolves soon as I'm getting a lot of treatment through the week and I'm hoping it'll be okay. "I want to play. I want to be out on the pitch helping the team."
