Phil Jones happy with being used in a number of positions

Saturday's match-winner Phil Jones insists he is content with being used as a versatile member of the Manchester United first-team. Jones grabbed his first-ever professional goal as the Red Devils beat Aston Villa 1-0 at Villa Park on Saturday. The 19-year-old, who put through his own net against Benfica in the UEFA Champions League recently, has played in a number of positions this season and was operating as a midfielder as he scored his goal. He was signed from Blackburn as a centre-half but Sir Alex Ferguson has also played him at right-back and he is now an England international. Jones' goal clinched Manchester United's fourth win in five games and kept the pressure on Manchester City at the top of the table.

Delighted

He said: "After last week, when I stuck one in the back of my own net, I was delighted to score and get off the mark. "I'm delighted to score but it wasn't about the goal. It was about three points and I thought the lads did exceptionally well. "I enjoy playing anywhere. I enjoy playing football, so wherever I am asked to play I will play. "If the manager asks me to play right-back, centre-back or midfield, I will go and do a job there. "I don't think it really matters at the moment that I am cementing a spot in a certain position because I am still young. Hopefully as my career progresses that will happen."
